Calendar of Events

This is a schedule of major events around which you might organize local, regional, or national efforts for the People's Campaign for the Constitution.

District work periods are times when members of congress are in their local districts, and they provide excellent opportunities to be in direct, personal contact with your senators and representatives through local coalition meetings and public events.

2009

January 11: Seventh anniversary of Guantánamo Bay detention center

January 20: Inauguration Day

February 16-20: Presidents Day District Work Period

March 15-21: Sunshine Week

April 6-17: Spring District Work Period

May 25-29: Memorial Day District Work Period

June 29 - July 3: Independence Day District Work Period

July 4: Independence Day

July 9: First anniversary of the passage of the FISA Amendments Act

August 3 - September 4: Summer District Work Period

September 17: Constitution Day

December 15: Bill of Rights Day

December 31: Sunsets of the following PATRIOT Act provisions:

  • Roving wiretaps
  • “Lone wolf” surveillance
