Remember the Innocents
December 26, 2009 at 10:34 am by David WilsonBelow this post in the December 22 news digest is a link to former Somali detainee of Guantánamo describing his time at the facility. His account is horrific.
We need to remember during this holiday season that many are not with their family and friends. There are those being held without any current hope of being able to defend themselves against the government that is imprisoning them—a government that is busily gaming the system to prevent their being released any time soon, and without any due process.
What’s even worse is that it now appears that Guantánamo will be open for at least another year.
In this time of celebration and camaraderie, please take the time to reflect on those innocents who are suffering at the hands of politicos who are undermining our core system of due process.
