What does the government know about you?
December 11, 2009 at 12:35 pm by Amy E. FerrerWe all know about the government’s warrantless surveillance programs, which invade the privacy of many law-abiding Americans—maybe even you. But do you really know what information the government has on you?
The Forensic Scientist Blog has compiled a helpful list of the six files the US government keeps on you. The post also includes information on how to get copies of your files through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.
Anyone can file a FOIA request, and Defending Dissent Foundation has a great organizing idea: a FOIA party! Get a group of activists together to learn how to file FOIA requests for your own or other public records. Check out their FOIA party resources for more information.
