A wide range of prominent musicians were informed last month that their music was used as a torture mechanism at Guantánamo Bay and have since have taken a strong stands against the military detention center. Last week Justice Through Music released a new music video with the intention of bringing more light to the use of torture by the US government in the war on terror. The music video by Op-Critical is called “Torture Me.” The lyrics of the song  and imagery of the video reveal various torture interrogation tactics including waterboarding, being hung from bars, rape, kidnapping, and electrocution.

Op-Critical’s band member Storm comments on the video;

“With the release of new torture documents this week and Obama’s recent censorship of Bush torture photos, it is important for people to see what torture looks like. In our video, we show not only how the victim is tortured, but how the torturer goes home, looks in the mirror, and sees an M-O-N-S-T-E-R looking back at him.”

Justice Through Music is a national non-profit that collaborates with well known musicians and bands to inform young people about the importance of civil rights and voting and urges the public to get involved with vital social issues.
